LIVE ART
I enjoy making live art during performances and services, both on my own and with collaborators. I've created pieces in 1-2 hours during church services, concerts, weddings and open mics. Contact me if you'd like to learn more or book me for an event!

"The Seeds Know" detail
2018
Detail from a larger found art and painting piece created live during a sermon at St Andrew's Lutheran Church, Mahtomedi. In the season of Lent, I connected with themes of waiting and seeds. The small Christ figure came from a broken shrine at the thrift store, and is wrapped in pieces of a farmer friend's well-worn work shirt.

"The Seeds Know"
2018
Live art painting and found art collage created during a Lent sermon at St. Andrew's Lutheran, Mahtomedi. I created two panels with found object collage and painting to fit into the openings in an old window screen. This piece references milkweed, one of the many plants that only grow well after their seeds are exposed to deep cold. During the sermon I assembled and attached found objects from a big box I had brought with me, and did layers of background painting and lettering.

MOAB Kyrie
2017
In 2017, I did live painting at a Maundy Thursday service at Westwood Lutheran Church in St Louis Park. On that same day, US authorities were on the air boasting of dropping the "mother of all bombs" in Afghanistan. This piece became a visual response and meditation on the Last Supper.
